2. About This Program

The BSc Accounting & Finance program provides students with a strong foundation and advanced knowledge in accounting, finance, taxation, auditing, governance, business law and strategic financial management. It develops technical competence in financial reporting, management accounting, financial analysis, taxation, corporate finance, risk management and applied research — preparing graduates for careers in accounting, banking, auditing and finance, and for postgraduate study. Structured across three academic years and aligned with the UK Framework for Higher Education Qualifications, comparable with Levels 4, 5 and 6 of a UK Honours Degree.

5. Program Structure

Year 1 – Level 4 (120 Credits)

Completion of Year 1 makes students eligible for the NCC Education Level 4 Diploma in Accounting & Finance.

This module introduces students to the fundamental principles and practices of financial accounting, including recording transactions, double-entry bookkeeping, preparing financial statements, and understanding key accounting concepts and standards.

Year 2 – Level 5 (120 Credits)

Completion of Year 2 makes students eligible for the NCC Education Level 5 Diploma in Accounting & Finance.

Year 3 – Level 6 (120 Credits)

Completion of Year 3 makes students eligible for the NCC Education Level 6 Diploma in Accounting & Finance.

6. Entry Requirements

Standard Entry – Year 1:

Applicants should possess CSEC / CAPE / High School Diploma or equivalent qualification, or a Level 3 qualification in a relevant discipline.

Advanced Entry – Year 2:

Applicants may be admitted directly to Year 2 if they possess a Level 4 qualification such as HNC, CertHE, Level 4 Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.

Advanced Entry – Year 3:

Applicants may be admitted directly to Year 3 if they possess a Level 5 qualification such as HND, DipHE, Foundation Degree, or equivalent qualification. Partial completion of professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, or CPA may also be considered.

Mature Entry / Recognition of Prior Learning:

Applicants without formal academic qualifications may be considered based on relevant work experience in accounting, finance, auditing, banking, insurance, or related areas. Applicants may be required to attend an interview, submit a professional portfolio, or complete an assessment.

RPL / Exemption: Exemptions may be granted for prior qualifications, ACCA/CIMA/CPA, work experience, portfolio or interviews. All decisions subject to GSBTI approval.

5A. UK QUALIFICATION PATHWAY (NEW)

Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Accounting & Finance program may achieve internationally recognised NCC Education qualifications as they successfully complete each academic stage while progressing toward the bachelor’s degree.
