Graduates will be prepared for careers in occupational health and safety across sectors such as oil and gas, construction, manufacturing, public services, industrial operations, and related industries. The program also supports progression to postgraduate study and professional certification pathways such as NEBOSH and IOSH.

Year 1 – Level 4

This module introduces students to the fundamental principles of occupational health and safety. It provides a foundation in workplace hazards, risk awareness, safety roles, safety culture, and the application of basic safety principles in workplace environments.

Year 2 – Level 5
Year 3 – Level 6

6. Entry Requirements

Standard Entry – Year 1:

High School Diploma / CAPE / equivalent.

Advanced Entry – Year 2:

Level 4 Diploma / HNC in a relevant field.

Advanced Entry – Year 3:

Level 5 Diploma / HND / NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification.

Mature Entry / Recognition of Prior Learning:

Relevant professional experience in safety or related industries may be considered under Recognition of Prior Learning.

RPL / Exemption: GSBTI recognizes prior academic and professional learning for admission and module exemptions. Academic exemptions may be granted for Level 4 and Level 5 modules. Professional qualifications such as NEBOSH and IOSH may be considered. Relevant work experience may also support advanced entry. The maximum exemption permitted is 50% of the program, equivalent to 180 credits. No exemption is permitted for final-year core modules or the Dissertation / Capstone Project. All exemptions are subject to Academic Board approval.

Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Occupational Health & Safety Management program may achieve internationally recognized NCC Education qualifications upon successful completion of each academic stage while progressing toward the bachelor’s degree.
